About the Artist and PerfectView Images
Welcome and thank you for visiting PerfectView Images!
My passion for photography was born 30 years ago while vacationing with my wife Cindy, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The natural beauty of the area came to mean so much to us that we found it difficult to “leave it behind” when vacation ended. Our photographs became the means to keep those “perfect views” with us until we could return again. Over the years, my portfolio has been expanded to include “perfect views” from many other places where I have been “on excursion” including the Blue Ridge Mountain area of Virginia where Cindy, Sugar (their miniature dachshund), and I currently live.
Initially, I learned the art of photography pretty much on my own. Later, I completed a professional online course offered by the New York Institute of Photography, which provided a strong foundation of specialized knowledge upon which I have since able to establish a creative and diverse portfolio of images.
My images have been published in the Outer Banks Visitors Guide, the Coastland Times, The Charlotte Observer and the Canton Repository, and have been displayed and sold through several galleries and retail stores in the OBX and Virginia.
Today, my goal is to always be learning and to grow my creative skills by learning from those, past and present, whose work inspires me; Aycock Brown, Ansel Adams, Galen Rowell, Bret Weston, Robert Farber, Ray Matthews, and the photographers of the National Geographic Society. I am very grateful for the priceless creative guidance that I discovered in Vein of Gold* by Julia Cameron. If it were not for Julia’s creative insights, I would never have developed the self-confidence and belief in myself to refer to myself as a true artist. With it I have taken my art to the next level!
My goal with my photography is to have fun and inspire others while taking people to a place where they can discover “Something More”. It is not always my goal to create photographs that are technically perfect, but often to convey a message that goes beyond the image itself. My photographic art is just as much about what the viewer doesn’t see, as what they see in an image. My art is a celebration of my life experiences and the true love and appreciation I have for the beauty and wonders of God's creation. Each image is special to me and represents a unique, golden opportunity to be shared and appreciated that cannot be duplicated.
